Klučov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Klučov showcases a variety of facets in clearly identifiable settings: historic fortifications, winegrowing, and a family-friendly trail.
History
The Hradiště Na Ptáčku archaeological site lies on a prominent spur rising directly above the southeastern edge of the built-up area of the village. The Slavic hillfort was established in the mid-8th century on a rocky promontory above the Šembera stream. It covered 1.6 ha and was surrounded by three rows of palisades and a ditch. During the Hussite Wars, the site was used to establish a field camp. The extensive remains of the fortification lines are not visible in the terrain today.
The oval Klučov water fortress measures 58 × 32 m and is surrounded by a moat 6 to 22 m wide. Its existence is documented by an archaeological find dating from around the 13th century. An oval island measuring up to 58 × 32 m remains from the vanished Klučov Castle, surrounded by a muddy moat 6 to 22 m wide.
Wine
Vinařství Klučov offers a guided tasting of eight wines from the Klučov vineyards. By arrangement, it holds private wine tastings for groups of eight or more. The vineyards in Klučov cover a total of 5.4 ha and are spread across three sites; their establishment began in 2017.
Getting Around
The Kudrnáčova Trail runs from Poříčany via Hradiště Klučov to Klučov and is more than 3 km long. The route is suitable for families with children. Among other features, the Kudrnáčova Trail includes a barefoot path and views of the surrounding area.
The Kudrnáčova Trail can be reached via railway line 011 between Prague and Kolín, as both Poříčany and Klučov are located directly on this line.
