Holiday apartment in Dolní Hbity: history, trails and rural culture
Holiday apartment in Dolní Hbity amid forests, trails and history
Dolní Hbity combines a rich history with a landscape in which forests and permanent grassland account for a significant share of the municipality’s area. The area is also characterised by rural village settings and marked trails. When choosing a holiday apartment in Dolní Hbity, you can therefore tailor your stay to different interests: exploring cultural history, going hiking or admiring traditional architecture.
Discover the church and local history
The first written mention of Dolní Hbity dates from 19 May 1325. The settlement probably originated as early as the 12th century along the so-called Salt Route. This ran from present-day Solenice via Kamýcký hrad–Vrš to Prague. The area’s historical development can also be traced through the Church of Saint John the Baptist, which has been protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic since 1998.
Today’s Church of Saint John the Baptist was built between 1868 and 1872 on the site of a demolished, presumably Early Gothic church from the second half of the 13th century. This earlier church is documented as early as 1352. Anyone who values history when choosing accommodation will therefore find in Dolní Hbity a specific opportunity to connect local history with the history of sacred architecture.
Rural architecture in Luhy and Káciň
Preserved building traditions also shape the appearance beyond the village centre. Several traditional wooden log buildings have been preserved in Luhy. Káciň is distinguished by rural architecture that has remained undisturbed to this day. The two parts of the municipality offer different points of interest: Luhy focuses on individual historic wooden buildings, while Káciň is interesting for its cohesive rural character.
Hiking and events
Three marked hiking trails run through the municipality of Dolní Hbity. One 6.7 km hiking route leads from the Dolní Hbity–Nepřejov junction via Horní Líšnice and Dolní Líšnice to Maková hora; it takes approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes. The combination of several marked trails and one specifically described route helps you organise hiking plans by route and length.
Cycling is another highlight: the Dolnohbitský Tvrďák event took place in 2022, 2024, 2025 and 2026. The Pochod Dolnohbitskem napříč hiking event took place in Dolní Hbity on 28 September 2023; it was described at the time as the fourth edition. For travel by bus, PID bus routes 420, 500, 510 and 530 operate to Dolní Hbity. You can take this into account when planning your holiday apartment and excursions.
