Háje: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Háje preserves in its name the settlement’s origins in an old grove. The settlement’s name was shortened to Háje in 1653. The earliest written records mention Háje in 1603 as “vsí novou na Hájích”; the same designation also appears in the oldest church register of Slivice from 1636.

History and townscape

The more recent history includes former shaft no. 16 of the Háje–Věž uranium mine, which in 1975 was considered the deepest mine shaft in Czechoslovakia or, respectively, the then republic. The former school building in Háje dates from 1907. Individual cottages along road II/118 and around the former school represent Háje’s original rural architectural style.

Landscape

The Háje geological locality is a flat, disused quarry measuring approximately 40 × 40 metres. It includes a 2- to 3-metre-high wall and small surface outcrops.

Marked hiking trails

The marked Příbram–Svatá Hora–Háje–Smolotely hiking trail passes through Háje. The marked Příbram–Za Lukama–Háje–Kácíň–Horní Líšnice hiking trail also passes through Háje. The marked Háje–Spálený–Velká Leč–Obory hiking trail begins in Háje and leads via Spálený and Velká Leč to Obory.
