Dřetovice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Dřetovice reveals its history through distinctive ecclesiastical buildings and archaeological traces. The Church of Saint Wenceslas is the only surviving remnant of the vanished medieval village of Královice. Originally Romanesque, it was later rebuilt in the Gothic style and acquired its present appearance in the 18th century. The church contains rare figural and heraldic tomb monuments from the late 16th century.

The Church of Saint Wenceslas stands on the northern edge of Dřetovice, in a slightly elevated position, and is surrounded by a cemetery. The late Baroque Chapel of the Virgin Mary stands on the main road. It is a protected cultural monument and has been protected as a historic monument since 3 May 1958.

History

The archaeological site in the centre of Dřetovice covers the period from the Middle Ages to the modern era. Finds of medieval pottery have also been recorded in Dřetovice. Two old mills form part of Dřetovice’s local cultural heritage. A memorial in the village commemorates those who fell in the world wars.

Dřetovice lies in a flat valley; most of the built-up area is situated on the slope on the right bank of the Dřetovický potok.

Geographical location

Dřetovice lies on road II/101 between Kladno and Kralupy nad Vltavou. The single-track railway line 093 between Kladno and Kralupy nad Vltavou is also connected with the village; the line belongs to the national railway network.
