Discover Zájezd: Zoopark, wildlife and nature trail

In the “Terária” area, you can view the world’s largest public collection of chameleons up close. The same area also features rare iguanas, tortoises, songbirds, spiders and stick insects.

Wildlife and encounters

An walk-through aviary is home to curious squirrels and golden pheasants. In the “Ušákov” children’s area, children can play with the largest rabbits in the world. As part of the “Rodinné krmení zvířat” programme, visitors have the opportunity to feed their preferred animal accompanied by an animal keeper. The “Krmení pro odvážné” programme is designed for encounters with chameleons, iguanas or snakes, which are fed insect food during the experience.

For planning your own day, quiet animal observation, playful activities and supervised feeding can be considered as different types of activity alongside one another. The alternation between observing, identifying and direct participation in particular gives the visit different points of focus, without all areas having the same character.

Nature

Zoopark Zájezd consists of two visitor areas. In addition to animal observation, the “Naučná stezka” leads into the open nature surrounding the zoo: Along the educational trail, visitors receive information about this natural environment and learn to identify animal tracks and the calls of Czech bird species.

The “Naučná stezka” educational trail runs past more than 10 stations and interactive elements around the camel and into the lower area with an amphitheatre and children’s playground. As a result, informative stations, interactive elements and other spatially designated areas are situated alongside one another along the same route. The different types of paths help you consider animal observation and a walk separately when planning your day.

Getting there and paths

The main car park is located outside the municipality of Zájezd in the direction of Libochovičky. From there, a 500 m walk through nature leads either along the educational trail or through the butterfly garden. The route thus connects the car park with two named path options, each of which passes through natural areas.

Zoopark Zájezd can also be reached by bus routes 350/622 from Praha, Dejvická to Kladno via Okoř, as well as by route 342 from Praha, Veleslavín to Slaný; these routes stop at Bouchalka bus stop. The routes mentioned differ in starting point, direction of travel and route number and can therefore be considered separately when planning your journey.

For further travel planning, a holiday apartment in Zájezd can be considered based on travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions. These details form a separate selection framework alongside the animal and nature experiences described. This keeps accommodation details and the visitor areas mentioned in Zájezd separate, while both aspects can be incorporated into your personal travel planning without prescribing an order for the visit.
