Jemníky: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The cadastral area of Jemníky consists mainly of a plateau interrupted by steep slopes and the comparatively broad valley of the Knovízský potok stream. The Jemníky menhir is registered as an immovable cultural monument.

Traces on Site

A wooden cross dating from 1823 previously stood at the site of the monument in Jemníky. The stone in Jemníky is made of ferruginous sandstone, is approximately 1 metre high, and weighs around 900 kilograms. The Humboldt shaft was sunk at the western edge of the cadastral area of Jemníky.

History and Culture

Jemníky is documented in 1228 as the property of St. George's Convent at Prague Castle. The Zvoleněves–Kladno-Dubí railway line was built in stages; sections were opened in 1856 and 1886. Jiří Družecký composed around 150 works for wind instruments.

The chapel in Jemníky has a square floor plan, a distinctive Neo-Gothic façade, and a four-sided bell tower at its apex. It was built at the end of the 19th century.

Plots of land along the disused railway line between Jemníky and Saky are accessible from a public road.
