Čerčany is located on the Sázava; “Čerčany – u tenisových kurtů” is a launch and landing point there for water tourism and paddling.
Culture and History
The settlement of Vysoká Lhota has belonged to Čerčany since 1960. The protected monument Zámeček is located there and was first mentioned in writing in 1358. The Zámeček grounds are privately owned.
Husův sbor is a Hussite church on a rise above Čerčany. The church was ceremonially opened on July 20, 1952, after thirteen years of intensive work. It is a work by the architect Truksa, a representative of Functionalism.
The mill in Čerčany is also one of the area’s historical landmarks: it has been mentioned since 1648, was formerly called Spálenský, and later Vávrův after its new owner. In the wider regional surroundings of Čerčany are Fort Práče and Loreta Church.
