Český Šternberk: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Český Šternberk Castle combines a founding date around 1241 with a family history that has continued to the present day: Zdeslav of Divišov founded it around 1241, and it is still owned by the founding family today.

Culture

A tour of the castle includes 15 richly furnished rooms on the second upper floor. The castle also houses a unique collection of 545 prints from the time of the Thirty Years' War.

The southern detached bastion, known as Hladomorna, now serves as a viewpoint.

Activities

The approximately 30 km-long cycle route 3/C and the Posázavská cycle route No. 19 pass through Český Šternberk. The latter runs mainly along convenient paths and roads of the second and third classes. An excursion on foot or by bicycle can be undertaken as a half-day tour.

The Český Šternberk climbing sector is located on the right bank of the Sázava, south of the village of Malovidy. The climbing area is a comparatively young area with new routes secured with expansion bolts or pitons. Stříbrná stěna is the highest wall in the climbing area visible from the railway station and offers beautiful long climbing lines; however, the lower sections are quite brittle.

Getting there

The climbing area is most easily reached from Český Šternberk railway station on foot by following the railway tracks downstream towards Rataje nad Sázavou. The Český Šternberk stop is about a ten-minute walk from the castle courtyard.
