Březnice Castle: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The Lokšanská Library in Březnice Castle is the oldest castle hall for a library in the Czech Republic preserved in its original form and dates from 1558.
Culture and History
During a self-guided tour of Březnice Castle, the individual noble families are presented, along with interiors from the Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo and Empire periods. The historic buildings in the town also include the Church of Saint Ignatius of Loyola and Saint Francis Xavier. Carlo Lurago and his brother Martin built it between 1642 and 1650. Its single-nave interior with side chapels is richly decorated with stucco and numerous works of art.
The current appearance of the Březnice synagogue dates from 1874. In the Jewish cemetery, the Hebrew tombstones, in their inscriptions and forms, recall the tombstones in the Old Jewish Cemetery in Prague. The Ludvík Kuba Gallery in Březnice adds another cultural highlight. In four halls, it displays works featuring motifs from Březnice and South Bohemia, as well as portraits, figure paintings and genre paintings.
Nature and Trails
The grounds of Březnice Castle continue southwards into an English park and further east into an extensive castle game reserve. The park and garden of Březnice Castle are freely accessible to the public at the stated times.
The Tušílkova Trail is laid out as a forest path for families with children. Along the path, there are various stations offering educational opportunities.
