Culture and History

Antonja, the feast of Saint Anthony of Padua, takes place in Kras on 13 June. The Church of Saint Anthony of Padua in Kras was built in the early 20th century on the foundations of an older building.

Kras is also home to the partially preserved medieval Romanesque Church of Saint George. Its construction is documented in a Glagolitic foundation document from 1230.

The folklore group of KD Sv. Juraj Kras takes part in the Krk Folklore Festival every year. Since 2016, KD Sv. Juraj Kras has organised Večer folklora na Krasu during Antonja. KD Sv. Juraj Kras also preserves the local dance tradition “kraski tanac”, known in the dialect as “tonoc”.

The island of Krk is located in the vicinity of Kras. Fulfinum Forum and Fulfinum Mirine are located in the surrounding area of Kras. The same area is also home to “Beach Vela Riva”, Biserujka and Plaža Pesja, as well as Fortičina Omisalj and Fort Maltempo.
