The written history of Dobrinj begins with a Glagolitic document from the year 1100, the charter known as the Charter of Dragoslav. To this day, the town preserves Glagolitic manuscripts, brotherhood and notarial books, stone Glagolitic inscriptions, as well as parts of the liturgy in Old Slavic.

Culture
The Church of Saint Stephen is one of Dobrinj’s oldest religious and cultural monuments. A wooden porch called Cergan was built in front of Dobrinj’s parish church, the Church of Saint Stephen. The church also contains the altarpiece “Coronation of Mary”, which was declared a cultural monument. A church in Dobrinj was declared a cultural monument in 1974.
A relief retable entitled “Coronation of the Virgin Mary” dates from the early 16th century.
Collections
The Sacred Museum Collection in Dobrinj is housed in the parish residence and presents Dobrinj’s cultic and religious heritage. Its holdings include a copy of the Charter of Dragoslav from the year 1100. The collection also includes a 15th-century Venetian antependium embroidered with gold by Katarina Frankopan.
The Ethnographic Collection in Dobrinj uses original exhibits and photographs to convey island life over almost 200 years. It can be visited in summer; at other times, a prior telephone appointment with the Municipality of Dobrinj is required.
Festivals and Exhibitions
Stipanja is celebrated in Dobrinj on 3 August as the feast of the patron saint of the parish and municipality. The celebration includes a concelebrated Mass in Old Slavic, afternoon folklore performances in the town square and an evening folk festival.
The Church of Holy Trinity, locally known as Saint Anthony’s Church, is used as an exhibition and gallery space, particularly in recent years during the summer.
Surroundings
The Biserujka Cave is located nearby and has been developed for visitors. Meline lies between Soline and Čižići and is known for its healing mud.
An educational hiking trail leads from Biserujka Cave to Slivanjska Bay.
