The “From coast to hills and back” cycling route follows the sequence Čižići–Rudine–Sužan–Dobrinj. On the section leading to Sužan, it runs along asphalt and macadam roads and offers views of Soline Bay and the mainland. Beyond Sužan, the route continues via macadam and single-track sections to the Dobrinj Town Museum.

Culture and History

The Church of All Saints in Sužan was built in 1514 under the patronage of the Brotherhood of All Saints from Sužan. Sužan is considered one of the old settlements in the Dobrinj area associated with numerous historical and cultural attractions.

The roofless, disused Church of St John the Baptist is located nearby, about 500 metres in the forest above Sužan. It is considered the oldest church in the Sužan area.

Masses were celebrated in the Church of All Saints until 1927. That year, the village residents built the Church of Our Lady of Good Health after the Church of All Saints had become too small. The new building was constructed in the centre of Sužan.

Landscape

Sužan lies at a transition between cultivated areas and wooded regions, which shaped its historic economy. Traditional rural economic activities included growing grapes and olives as well as livestock farming.
