This makes Hedeviken a versatile starting point for a trip that combines nature experiences, excursions and activities that vary by season.

River, lakes and fishing around Hedeviken

The Hedeviken fishing area includes lakes and flowing waters, offering a wide range of fishing opportunities. The Ljusnan, which flows past Hedeviken, is considered a popular fly-fishing area. Lake Rörsjön is also part of the Hedeviken fishing area. Many trails around the village pass good fishing lakes; on beautiful late-winter days, ice fishing is possible there.

For planning a trip with children, one particular rule is especially interesting: in the Hedeviken fishing area, fishing is free for children and young people up to and including the age of 15. This free status is specific information relevant to families planning their trip. The required fishing permits are sold digitally via iFiske and delivered by email, in the app or optionally by SMS. This makes it possible to plan a stay around Hedeviken even when fishing is just one of several holiday priorities.

Nyvallen and the Fäbod culture

A distinctive excursion leads to Nyvallen. The site has been in continuous operation since the beginning of the 18th century. In Nyvallen, guided tours about life at a fäbod are offered. The authentic fäbod culture in the mountain birch landscape also includes free-grazing mountain cattle. Those interested in regional traditions and the connection between farming and the mountain landscape will find an illustrative complement here to the nature experiences by the water.

In summer, the road through Hedeviken to Nyvallen leads to one of the entrances to Sonfjället National Park. The road to Nyvallen is not cleared of snow in winter. For cross-country skiing into the national park, it is therefore recommended to start in Nysätern. You should take this seasonal feature into account when choosing your travel period and planning your accommodation.
