The Vemdalen destination includes three ski areas close to the fjäll. The SkiStar Snow Park Vemdalen is a particularly good place for sporting variety. There are also many ways to experience the winter landscape away from the Snow Park. Guided snowshoe tours are also offered in Destination Vemdalen; alternatively, you can rent snowshoes for your own excursions. Fjäll horseback riding takes place in both summer and winter, while sleigh rides can additionally be booked in winter. Guided snowmobile safaris are also among the bookable experiences.
For independent excursions, there are 18 Swedish miles of marked fjäll trails. The trails are marked with trail posts and crosses. For snowmobile rides, Vemdalen has 30 Swedish miles of prepared snowmobile trails. Destination Vemdalen keeps the signage, rest shelters and trail markers along the fjäll trails in good condition. The Veman River flows through Vemdalen onwards to Vemhån and then towards Svegsjön; its route is mentioned as an opportunity for a longer canoe adventure.

South of Vemdalens kyrka stand well-preserved older buildings belonging to old farmsteads and an inn. Vemdalens Hembygdsgård is one of the oldest local heritage farmsteads in Jämtland County.
