Culture and History

Castillo de Torrejón is an Iberian archaeological site that was inhabited from the 6th to the 2nd–1st century BC. Castillo de Torrejón is situated in a strategic location overlooking the surrounding area. Gátova Town Council offers free guided tours of Castillo de Torrejón with a specialized guide throughout the year.

The Iglesia Parroquial de Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles features a Corinthian temple with two naves and side chapels. Its façade has a triangular pediment, a door with a straight lintel and a Marian coat of arms, as well as a two-storey bell tower.

Molino de la Ceja is a monument built in the 18th century. It can be visited via a well-maintained road and is now set up as an attractive viewpoint; the immediate surroundings can be viewed from inside the mill building. The Piñel Aqueduct is one of Gátova’s attractions.

The “Ruta 11: Fuentes y barrancos Serra” route includes Gátova, Segart and Serra. The Fiesta del Cerdo de Gàtova has been held since 2014 on the third or fourth Saturday in February, at the same time as San Antón. The festival today commemorates the former, now discontinued tradition of winter pig slaughtering in Gátova.
