Beach and Water

At Playa de Xeraco, fine, golden sand and a dune belt covered with Mediterranean vegetation shape the beach. In 2025, a public transport service connected the railway station with Playa de Xeraco. Fishing is possible at the mouth of the Riu Vaca in the beach area of Xeraco. Playa de Xeraco has been adapted for bathing by people with reduced mobility.

Nature and Trails

Xeraco belongs to the 1,225.34-hectare Marjal de la Safor environmental unit. It encompasses the municipal areas of Tavernes de la Valldigna, Xeraco, Xeresa and Gandia and has an extensive network of local trails for walking and cycling.

The PR-V 183 hiking trail begins in the municipal area of Xeraco. The Ruta del Riu Vaca allows visitors to observe the biodiversity of a wetland on the Riu Vaca and its surroundings and can be undertaken on foot or by bicycle. A single hiking trail, a local trail network and a route with two possible modes of transport place different emphases on trail planning.

Culture and History

The smaller bell tower of the Iglesia Parroquial de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación is identified as the former minaret of the original mosque. The Torre de Guaita is protected as a Bien de Interés Cultural and offers views of the river as well as the local flora and fauna.

The Ermita del Santísimo Cristo de la Agonía is a single-nave chapel from the 19th century dedicated to the Santísimo Cristo de la Agonía, the patron saint of Xeraco. La Cisterna is an underground stone structure with a barrel vault that was used to collect water from underground flows.

Festivals and Cuisine

The patron saint festivities in honour of the Crist de l’Agonia take place in Xeraco during the first week of August; Falles are also celebrated there. Every summer, the Muestra de Dulces Tradicionales de Xeraco takes place on Xeraco beach. The town’s bakeries and associations from Xeraco offer traditional sweets such as Pastelillos, Buñuelos and Tortas for sale there.

The dishes highlighted in Xeraco include Arroz al horno with or without a crust, peppers filled with rice and Valencian paella. For different travel preferences, the priorities can be considered separately: trails and water alongside buildings, festivals and cuisine.
