Culture and history

La Torre de Torrent is a square-plan tower, 22 m high and with five interior floors. It served as a refuge for the inhabitants and their possessions and was included in Spain’s historic heritage as a Bien de Interés Cultural on 6 June 2001.

The Museo Comarcal de l’Horta Sud Josep Ferrís March is located in Ca l’Estudiant de Boqueta, a former farmhouse from the first decade of the 20th century. Its permanent exhibition presents the way of life of a family from Horta Sud whose livelihood primarily came from working the land.

The Casa Museo de la Semana Santa preserves the procession figures in chronological order relating to the Passion in a central nave measuring more than 1,400 m². It is currently recognised as a Colección Museográfica by the Valencian Community. By arrangement, the museum organises visits for school groups, associations and private groups.

Hort de Trénor is a historic garden classified as a Bien de Relevancia Local. It includes a neo-Gothic chapel. Other garden areas showcase the flora of the Valencian Community, including Mediterranean woodland and cork oak and holm oak areas.

Holy Week in Torrent is recognised by the Generalitat Valenciana as a Fiesta de Interés Turístico Autonómico. “El rossejat” is a traditional dish associated with this festival.

Hiking and landscapes

The SL-CV 123 Camí del Xorro is a straight, low-difficulty hiking trail through the Barranc de l’Horteta. Historical irrigation structures lie along its route: the Xorro spring and mine, the Arquillo and Canyes arches, and the restored dam of the Torrent reservoir. The trail ends at the Mas del Jutge estate, built on an ancient Roman settlement.

The SL-CV 159 begins in the centre of Torrent and initially runs through the old town. It then passes through El Vedat and on to the Marxadella and Canyada del Conill recreational areas. Information panels form an educational trail about flora and fauna; the hiking trail also has four recreational areas with picnic and children’s areas.

Cycling and connections

The BTT1 cycling route follows quiet country roads through Torrent’s former dry-farming area. It heads towards the summit of the Sierra Perenxisa, which is designated as a flora micro-reserve.

Torrent is connected to Valencia via the metro network.
