Los Urrutias on the Mar Menor – Holiday Apartment, Beach and Water Sports

The Playa de Los Urrutias is located on the Mar Menor and offers calm swimming conditions. It is 1,200 metres long and an average of 20 metres wide. The beach has children's play areas, a kiosk on the promenade, foot-washing stations, jetties and toilets. Overall, it is partially equipped; in the El Caletón area, it is fully equipped. In the area of Los Urrutias, Estrella de Mar and Punta Brava, five bathing jetties on the Mar Menor were also out of service; three of them were still awaiting repairs.

Water Sports

Los Urrutias has a small marina for activities such as sailing and windsurfing. The Puerto Deportivo de Los Urrutias – Club de Regatas Mar Menor is located on Calle Ramos Carratala in Los Urrutias. The harbour of the Club de Regatas Mar Menor is an island-style marina facility about 100 metres from the beach and can be reached via a bridge. The Club de Regatas Mar Menor organises regattas and runs a sailing school.

Nature

The surrounding landscape includes the Saladar de Los Urrutias. It is part of the protected landscape area Espacios Abiertos e Islas del Mar Menor. Separately, the Aula de la Naturaleza de Los Urrutias was closed on 2 February 2026 and was in a neglected condition.

Culture

There was a chapel in Los Urrutias dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Nuestra Señora del Carmen). The Virgen del Carmen festival in Los Urrutias includes a Mass and a procession. The Torre del Negro stands in the area of Los Urrutias. It was built on the orders of King Philip II, has two storeys and a total height of 14 metres. Thus, the town combines religious references with a structure whose architectural and historical features are clearly identified.
