Holiday apartment in La Corona: protected mill, nature and trails

La Corona is home to a notable cultural monument: the La Corona grain mill in Perín has been granted Bien de Interés Cultural protection status. Molino de La Corona is also one of the rural cultural treasures included in PR-MU 115 Perín. The protected grain mill is located at kilometre 13.6 on the MU-6095 country road between Cuesta Blanca and Perín. The mill’s name, its classification as a rural cultural treasure and its precise location on the country road are therefore characteristic geographical references of La Corona.

Culture

Another notable structure is the Acueducto de Perín. It was built between 1942 and 1945 and is more than 239 metres long. Its date and exceptional length give the structure a clearly definable historical and architectural dimension, without requiring any further interpretations.

The Castillo de Atalaya, a castle, is located in the surrounding area of La Corona. The Museo Arqueológico Municipal de Cartagena, a museum, is also nearby. The cultural surroundings also include the Castillo de Galeras, a castle, and the Museo Histórico Militar de Cartagena, a museum. Thus, the cultural surroundings around La Corona comprise two castles and two museums.

Nature

A distinctive geographical connection extends right into the village centre: the boundary of the La Muela–Cabo Tiñoso bird protection area reaches the centre of La Corona and runs along it. This boundary line is directly connected with the village while remaining clearly identified as the boundary of the bird protection area.

Playa de Portús, a beach, is located in the surrounding area of La Corona. Playa de Fatares is also nearby and is a beach. Pico de la Peladilla, a peak, is also located in the immediate surrounding area. Another named point, Cerro Despeñaperros, lies in the surrounding area of La Corona; it is a viewpoint. The destinations mentioned therefore range from beaches to a peak and a viewpoint, with each name retaining its own geographical reference.

Hiking

The trails around La Corona have their own names and established geographical references. The Ruta Patrimonio de Perín begins at the Molino harinero de La Corona. The Sendero del Agua de Perín passes the houses of La Corona. From this trail, you can see the tower of a windmill in the surrounding area near the houses of La Corona. Thus, the trails bring together the connection with the mills, the houses of La Corona and a visible detail from the immediate surroundings.
