Castillo de Blanca rises above the town center of Blanca. The castle was built in the 12th century by Muslims on the Peña Negra of the Sierra del Solán at an altitude of 556 meters. In times of instability, it served as a watchtower and refuge for the residents of neighboring hamlets. The Castillo was restored between 2003 and 2006.

Culture

The town center is also home to notable reminders of history. The Iglesia de San Juan Evangelista acquired its present appearance in the 18th century and is characterized by a simple, austere Baroque style. The Ruta por la Blanca histórica runs through the town center and gives visitors an introduction to the town’s origins and history. The circular route is approximately three kilometers long, suitable for people of all ages, and takes about one hour.

The Fundación Pedro Cano is dedicated to the artist’s paintings and presents a chronological selection of his most important oil paintings. Guided tours are offered every day in the morning and afternoon; they begin half an hour after opening. The Itinerario Patrimonio hidráulico de la Huerta de Blanca offers another perspective on the history of the municipality. It brings to life the hydraulic installations that shaped the municipality of Blanca’s agricultural landscape over thousands of years. A total of 15 elements are marked with information boards, QR codes and signposts.

Nature

The Sierra de la Pila is one of the seven natural areas in the Región de Murcia with the status of a regional park. Its territory extends across the municipalities of Blanca, Abarán, Molina de Segura and Fortuna. The Conociendo la Sierra de la Pila route begins at the Fuente de la Canaleta. This starting point can be reached from Blanca via the MU-553 road.

Water

The Playa Fluvial El Arenal is located on the Río Segura in Blanca and is designated as a bathing area. It includes a picnic area with tables and a chiringuito. Experienced visitors can let themselves drift along the Río Segura in Blanca from El Arenal to the canoe club’s Embarcadero.

Traditions

The 2025 Fiestas Patronales in honor of San Roque traditionally end with a procession. It is accompanied by the Agrupación Musical de Blanca and fireworks.
