Culture

The parish church of La Asunción in Legarda was originally built in the Gothic style in the 13th century. It features later additions from the 14th, 16th and 18th centuries; its high altar is Plateresque and dates from the 16th century. Legarda is also home to the Chapel of San Águeda and the Chapel of San Francisco Javier de Basongaiz.

Pilgrimages

On 5 February, a pilgrimage takes place to the Chapel of San Águeda. On 15 May, it is a tradition in Legarda to walk on a pilgrimage to Santa Barbara. These firmly dated occasions and routes represent different ways of discovering the village on foot and through its religious connections.

Hiking

The circular route “Alrededores de Legarda – Por el Sur de la Sierra del Perdón” is 7.7 kilometres long and involves 364 metres of ascent. As a loop, it runs from Legarda via Alto de la Bandera, Artadi and Matrainburu, returning to Legarda. In the upper section of the circular route, there are views of the nearby Sierra de Alaiz.
