The centre is dominated by the Cathedral of Santo Domingo de la Calzada. It is a Proto-Gothic pilgrims’ church with three naves and a transept. The cathedral’s high altar is a work by Damián Forment. Another historical classification is provided by the medieval street network, which is designated as a “Conjunto de Interés Histórico-Nacional” (“Site of National Historic Interest”).

The walls of Santo Domingo de la Calzada form the largest walled complex in La Rioja. Three gates and extensive sections of the walls have been preserved; the walls date from the 12th and 14th centuries. A walk through the walled complex can begin at the former Puerta de la Puebla, now called “Las Bolas”. Its main altarpiece dates from 1602. The main chapel of the Monasterio de Nuestra Señora de la Anunciación also contains an altarpiece of Riojan Baroque from the mid-18th century. Vía Verde del Oja and Landscape

A stage of the Vía Verde del Oja runs from Santo Domingo de la Calzada to Ezcaray. It is 13.9 km long and has a stated duration of 4 hours and 30 minutes. Several kilometres of this route pass through a landscape with extensive cultivated areas on the alluvium of the Oja.
