Arrúbal – Pilgrim Routes, Church and Views over the Valley

Routes and Pilgrimage Paths

The Camino de Santiago, also known as the Camino Jacobeo, passes through Arrúbal in Rioja Oriental and by the Iglesia del Salvador; within the town, the Camino Jacobeo del Ebro runs along Calle Calvario and Calle Donantes de Sangre to the Iglesia del Salvador, then leaves Arrúbal via Calle de la Cuesta and the so-called “camino de abajo”. On the Camino Ignaciano, the route crosses a bridge to Arrúbal and then climbs up to the church of Arrúbal.

Stage 17.1 of the Camino Natural del Ebro reaches Arrúbal from Agoncillo after 4.6 km and approximately 55 minutes. The Camino Natural del Ebro also runs eastwards from the Río Grande irrigation channel towards Arrúbal. When planning, you can consider the sequence of streets within the town, the bridge crossing, the irrigation channel, and the distance and time information separately. The short distance, approximate duration and different directions can be given a different weighting from a route running along several named streets.

Church and Culture

The parish church of El Salvador dates largely from the 16th century and was completed in the 17th century. The Iglesia del Salvador is catalogued in the municipal master plan. Attractions in Arrúbal include the sculptures of the Four Elements, Fatherhood and the coat of arms of Arrúbal.

Pilgrimage Tradition
