Thermal waters

The Pozas de Arnedillo are located on the banks of the Cidacos River and are freely accessible. Inside El Mirador del Buitre, an exhibition presents the life cycle of the griffon vulture. The outdoor area is used for birdwatching and is equipped with telescopes and binoculars.

Culture and history

The Cueva del Ajedrezado is part of an early medieval hermitage complex carved into the rock. Inside, the niches hollowed out from floor to ceiling form an almost perfect chessboard pattern; a 200 m footpath leads to the cave.

The Iglesia de San Servando y San Germán dates from the early 16th century and houses a Renaissance high altar from 1560. The Centro de Interpretación del Alto Valle del Cidacos comprises five thematic areas covering the biosphere reserve, water, cultural heritage, industrialisation, and festivals and traditions.

The Procesión del Humo takes place in Arnedillo on the last Sunday in November. The Fiesta del Humo was recognised as a festival of regional tourist interest in 2013.

The cultural sites therefore range from an early medieval complex carved into the rock and a church from the early 16th century to a Renaissance high altar dating from 1560. The interpretation centre complements these historic sites with five thematic areas, including water, industrialisation, and festivals and traditions.
