San Cristóbal de Entreviñas introduces visitors to the Esla river area, sacred art, archaeology and a local festival tradition. The Esla River near San Cristóbal de Entreviñas is included in the Natura 2000 SCI “Riberas de la subcuenca del río Esla” (ES4130079). When planning your visit, you can consider these topics independently and shift the focus of your days between nature, culture and scheduled events.
The individual places can be clearly distinguished: the protected recreational area on the Esla and Playa Benidorm represent the river area, the churches reflect different traces of art and architectural history, Las Cañamonas represents archaeology, and Domingo Tortillero represents a local tradition. The chronological context also differs: the Baroque altarpiece was completed in 1700, while the capital dates from the late 10th century. Their order can therefore vary according to your interest in the river area, architectural history, archaeological site or festival date.
These three fields provide a clear chronological and contractual framework for the selection that follows.

Culture and History
The nave of the Iglesia de San Cristóbal de Entreviñas combines Renaissance and Mudéjar traditions. The municipality of San Cristóbal de Entreviñas includes the locality of Santa Colomba De Las Carabias; there, the Iglesia de San Juan Bautista is protected as an Asset of Cultural Interest in the Monument category.
The main altar of the Iglesia de San Juan Bautista in Santa Colomba de las Carabias is a gilded and polychrome Baroque altarpiece completed in 1700. The church also preserves a pre-Romanesque capital dating from the late 10th century. Las Cañamonas is the most important archaeological site in the area of San Cristóbal de Entreviñas. It lies south of the locality in land used for agriculture.
For cultural days, you can choose between architectural history, sacred furnishings and archaeology. The categories and dates mentioned each establish a separate focus, without architecture and the archaeological site having to belong to the same period.
