Culture and Townscape

The church of Nuestra Señora de La Asunción in Trabanca was rebuilt in the 16th century; inside it is an image of the Virgen del Carmen.

The Fragua de Trabanca is more than 200 years old and is located in the town centre.

The Parque Temático de Construcciones Populares in Trabanca presents the region’s civil and traditional architecture across 10 square kilometres.

Festivals and Traditions

Trabanca celebrates its two most important patron-saint feast days on 16 July and 12 September; both are dedicated to the Virgen del Carmen.

The major September festival week of the Fiestas de la Virgen del Carmen includes a festival proclamation, a large communal paella, Tute, Mus and pétanque competitions, several days of music and dancing, as well as a floral offering and a procession in honour of the Virgen del Carmen.

The Feria Internaciones de Artesanía in Trabanca takes place during Holy Week.

Las Bolagas takes place in Trabanca on the last day of the year; bushes known as bolagas are burned to purify the participants.
