Nature

The Ruta del molino y la rivera trail leads through the narrow valley along the riverbanks to the Molino de Samuel. Monleras’s open landscapes invite you to go hiking, cycling, take part in water activities and go coarse fishing. Culture

The former Alhóndiga of Monleras was a granary; three round arches remain. The Molino de Samuel was restored as an ethnographic museum. When there is enough water in the millrace, visitors can watch grain being milled there.

Monleras has significant examples of traditional and vernacular architecture. Exposed rubble-stone walls, along with doors and windows with granite lintels, are among its defining details.

The permanent audiovisual work “Toco el Cielo Toco la Tierra” by Víctor Casas is shown on five different screens. It presents the uses, customs, landscapes, ways of life and people of the surrounding area.

The Centro de Interpretación del Bajo Tormes is located in Monleras’s former granaries and provides knowledge about the landscape of the Bajo Tormes. History

At the beginning of the 14th century, Infante Don Sancho de Castilla el de la Paz lived in a manor house in Monleras. He was the son of Infante Don Pedro and the grandson of King Alfonso X el Sabio. After his death, the manor house became a convent for nuns.

The Poza de la Naveta is located approximately 500 metres from the town of Monleras and has been restored.

Events

The amphitheatre of Monleras provides space for theatre and music performances, including events held as part of the Festival de Artes Escénicas. It was built stone by stone through the community effort of the local residents.

The Festival de Teatro y Artes Escénicas of Monleras reached its 31st edition in 2026. The Feria de oficios in Monleras is a fair for traditional crafts and local agricultural and food products.

Monleras can be reached via the SA-300 to Ledesma and then via the SA-302.
