Las Casas del Conde is located in the Natura 2000 SCI Las Batuecas-Sierra de Francia (ES4150107). The village is situated on a south-facing mountain slope and has a distinctive microclimate. A notable way to experience the landscape and connections between the villages is the Asentadero–Bosque de los Espejos: the circular trail is 9.2 kilometres long and passes through San Martín del Castañar, Sequeros and Las Casas del Conde.

Permanent artworks have been installed along the Asentadero–Bosque de los Espejos. Another route, the Sendero Puentes Nuevas, passes old mills, bridges and the remains of former livestock shelters. Along the way, it passes through orchards, meadows, olive groves and vineyards, as well as oak, chestnut and pine forests; riparian forests are also part of its route. The Sendero Puentes Nuevas is signposted. Markers with QR codes provide information about important resources along the route. The wet areas along the trail provide habitat for endangered amphibians such as salamanders, Iberian newts and midwife toads. Culture and History

The Viacrucis in Las Casas del Conde consists of 14 stone crosses, culminating in a Calvario, or Calvary hill. The Iglesia de Santa Catalina de Alejandría was built in 1767. Las Casas del Conde was established through French resettlements carried out by Count Raymond of Burgundy towards the end of the 13th century. There have been two grain mills along the Río Francia since the middle of the 18th century. Outside the Ermita, on an original surface paved with stones from the Río Francia, there is a Crucero.

Village Character and Products

The village's sights include stone fountains and washbasins. The most notable washbasin is located near Barrioviejo, beside the road. Olives and grapes from Las Casas del Conde are processed into oils and wines.

Getting There

When travelling by car from Salamanca, the described route follows the CL-512 towards Vecinos, the SA-210 to Tamames and then the SA-215 and SA-220.
