Tubilla del Lago – History, Wine and Lagoons
At the heart of Tubilla del Lago stands the Castillo de Tubilla: it was built in the 10th century on the rocky hilltop as a defensive structure for the town.

Culture and History
The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción is a 16th-century church with a Romanesque tower. The Molino Bajero offers a different perspective: it was established in 1664 in La Vega on the Gromejón River, 200 paces from the town. The mill was later reconstructed, while preserving its original structure and mechanisms.
Two kilometres from Tubilla del Lago stands a 13th-century hermitage with a distinctly Cistercian character. It is the only surviving building of the village of Quintanilla de los Caballeros. The San Marcos pilgrimage is associated with 25 April and the former settlement of Quintanilla de los Caballeros.
Experiences in the Town
The route of artistic murals leads through the streets of Tubilla del Lago and serves as a tourist attraction. The town also features a metal sculpture made of an oversized bottle and a wine glass. It pays homage to the wine-growing identity of Ribera del Duero.
Las Marzas is a tradition that is still maintained in Tubilla del Lago. On the night marking the beginning of March, young men walk through the town and sing the corresponding verses. The different forms – a route through the streets, a nighttime custom and a technical racing circuit – can be distinguished from one another by subject and timeframe.
The topics described can be considered separately according to one's own priorities: buildings and local history offer a different perspective from the preservation of customs, culinary tradition, motorsport or the lagoons. Considering these areas separately makes it possible to organise the information according to personal interests and to understand the differences between culture, enjoyment, technology and nature more clearly.
The Circuito de Kotarr is a motorsport facility with a technical track more than two kilometres long for cars, motorcycles and karting.
Cuisine and Wine
Tubilla del Lago's culinary tradition includes grilled chops of suckling lamb. They are cooked over embers made from vine wood and served with authentic village bread and excellent red wines from Ribera del Duero.

Nature
Starting in 2007, Tubilla del Lago began restoring the Lagunas de Valcabadillo. The aim was to increase the biodiversity of the comarca and allow the lagoons to serve as a refuge, feeding and breeding area for waterfowl.
