Nature and Landscape

Navaluenga lies in the valley on the Alberche River, before it enters the Burguillo Reservoir. The landscape around Navaluenga includes orchards, meadows, holm oak stands, oak forests and pine forests.

In the granite massif of Gredos, the Garganta de Peñaltar reaches an altitude of 1,022 metres. The Garganta de Peñaltar is home to notable black pine trees and Eurasian black vultures. The golf course lies on the Alberche River between natural lakes and lush Mediterranean vegetation.

For your own planning, you can consider the river and valley, wooded areas, open landscapes and mountain ranges as separate nature themes side by side. The terms gorge, stream, lakes and peaks also provide different spatial images that can be weighted when putting together the days according to landform or cultural theme.

The surroundings of Navaluenga include Cerro de la Chorrera, the Escusa peak, and the mountains Cerro de los Vientos and Cerro de la Encinilla.

Hiking Trails

The officially approved PRC-AV 9 hiking trail begins in Navaluenga at the Ermita de San Isidro beside the Puente Románico. The marked PRC-AV 9 hiking trail offers views of the main peaks of eastern Gredos and the Alberche Valley.

The PRC-AV 10 route leads to a section of the Barranco del Cambronal between imposing Scots pines and along the Cambronal stream.

Anyone wishing to compare different trail characteristics can contrast a start in the town with distant views and a section featuring Scots pines and a stream. This allows both routes to be considered as independent hiking themes without prescribing a fixed itinerary.

Culture and History

The parish church of Nuestra Señora de los Villares dates from the 13th to the 14th century. The Ermita de San Isidro was rebuilt around 1940 by local farmers on the remains of the former Ermita de la Purísima Concepción.

The Museo De La Naturaleza Valle Del Alberche, a museum, is located in the surroundings of Navaluenga. The Castillo de La Adrada, a castle, is also located in the surrounding area.

For your own planning, the cultural destinations can be arranged according to whether they are located in Navaluenga, its surroundings or the wider regional area. The church, chapel, museum and castle thus stand alongside one another as different cultural themes.

Other places and entries:El Rincon, Piedrahita, Barajas, La Adrada, Burgohondo, San Bartolomé de Pinares, Riofrío, Navarredonda De Gredos

When booking a holiday apartment in Navaluenga, travel dates, room category and cancellation policies are separate details. For the thematic selection, hiking trails, landscape and history can be considered separately without mixing the individual focal points.
