Monte Bouza: Culture, Nature and Trails

Monte Bouza is the starting point of the route to Praia de Covelo, with Igreixa Santa Maria de Samieira serving as a waypoint; this point is 2.6 kilometres from the start.

Culture

The Monastery of San Xoán de Poio was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument in 1971. It houses two cloisters, one of the country's most important monastic libraries, with more than 100,000 volumes, and a monumental granary.

The library is therefore one of the most extensive of the named components of the monastery complex, while the two cloisters and the granary constitute further independent elements of the monument.

The Samieira Watermill Route is part of the Senderos-Azules network. This network was created by the Asociación de Educación Ambiental e do Consumidor, abbreviated as ADEAC.

The route to Praia de Covelo leads from Monte Bouza via the aforementioned waypoint at Igreixa Santa Maria de Samieira; the distance of 2.6 kilometres describes the location of this waypoint along the route.

A coastal trail in Samieira passes small coves and oak woodland areas. The A Pindilleira waterfall lies along the Fervenzas do Pereiro hiking trail and is almost 7 metres high.
