Wine and local character

Adega Buezas is located in Buezas, Sanxenxo, in the Galician Rías Baixas region. The family-run winery is situated in a Galician village and processes grapes exclusively from its own vineyards. The vines there are not trained on trellises. Traditional vine arbors ensure that the grapes are better ventilated and protected from the dampness of the Atlantic mist.

The winery’s own vineyards include vines that are more than 100 years old and are part of the “Adopta una cepa” program. The guided tour of Adega Buezas takes place in Nantes, Sanxenxo. It covers the grape harvest and the winemaking process. The tour also includes a tasting of the white wine “Peón & Rei by Adega Buezas”, accompanied by gourmet preserves.

Nature and trails

The Ruta dos Carballos de Aldariz runs through the Leirana oak grove. Laurel, chestnut, buckthorn and holly grow among the oaks. The route is designed as a circular trail and is 6.30 kilometers long. The trail is listed as being of medium difficulty, with an estimated duration of 1 hour 30 minutes. In addition, the Ruta dos Carballos de Aldariz has a signposted detour to Con da Ventureira.

Along its route, the trail connects the Leirana oak grove with the signposted detour to Con da Ventureira. In addition to the oaks, laurel, chestnut, buckthorn and holly shape the vegetation described there. Several beaches are located in the vicinity of Buezas: Panadeira, Lavapanos, Playa del Silgar and Areas Gordas.

Culture and history

In the area around Buezas, Chan da Gorita is considered a megalithic settlement. The site includes several burial mounds. Large stones formed access corridors and chambers there, intended for individual or collective burials. Chan da Gorita is dated to the period from 2000 to 1000 BC.

The Museo Etnografico del Vino is located in the area around Buezas. Also nearby are the Mirador de A Pastora viewpoint, the Museo da Salgadeira de Moreiras and the Pazos dos Ulloa palace. The Cruceiro de Buezas is listed as catalogued cultural heritage.

The historical points of reference thus range from the described megalithic settlement of Chan da Gorita to the catalogued cultural heritage site of Cruceiro de Buezas. This setting is complemented by the Museo Etnografico del Vino, the Museo da Salgadeira de Moreiras, the Mirador de A Pastora and the Pazos dos Ulloa palace. Chan da Gorita retains its association with the burial mounds and the burial sites dated to 2000 to 1000 BC.
