Nature

Part of the municipality of Becerreá belongs to the Os Ancares Lucenses e Montes de Navia, Cervantes e Becerreá Biosphere Reserve. This biosphere reserve includes, among others, the Navia, Rao and Ser rivers, as well as the Mustallar and Tres Bispos peaks.

Near Cruzul and Becerreá, a Mediterranean holm oak stand is located in a mountainous landscape within the Atlantic natural area. The PR-G 159 Sendeiro Quintá–Río Donsal runs through an area of high landscape and natural value in the Os Ancares Lucenses e Montes de Navia, Cervantes e Becerreá Biosphere Reserve. The natural area therefore brings together different landscape features: rivers, peaks, mountain forest and a designated trail are among the specifically named elements around Becerreá.

A climb of just over 1.5 km leads to the summit of Pena do Pico. This specific distance can be taken into account when planning your day.

Culture and history

Igrexa de San Cosme de Ouselle is a Romanesque church dating from the mid-12th or early 13th century. In this church, the side altar features Neoclassical lines and Rococo ornamentation; it dates from 1970.

The main altar of Igrexa de San Cosme de Ouselle is Baroque. It has three niches and a bust of the Eternal Father. Thus, the same church preserves both its Romanesque construction period and the later-mentioned features of the side and main altars.

The bridge over the Cruzul River was the scene of warfare in the War of Independence around 200 years ago. Igrexa de Santa María A Real do Cebreiro is a church in the wider regional surroundings of Becerreá. The Capilla de las Virtudes, a chapel in the wider regional surroundings, is also located there. The cultural setting therefore includes not only the church of Ouselle but also a historic bridge, another church and a chapel.

The municipal Área de Becerreá is free of charge. It offers drinking water and the possibility of staying overnight. Disposal facilities for greywater and blackwater are available there.
