Culture
The Hórreo de Lira was built between 1779 and 1814.
The Church of Santa María de Lira was built in 1760 and extended in 1825.
The Caseta de Pepe do Cuco is a former fishermen’s hut built around 1940 in Portocubelo, the port of Lira.
Thus, Lira is home to a traditional granary, a church with a construction and extension phase, and a former fishermen’s hut. The different dates range from the 18th to the early 19th century and up to around 1940.
The most important element of the ethnographic collection at the Caseta de Pepe do Cuco Museum is a boat, a canoe or a buceta.
Views and Coast
From the Mirador de Lira, the view extends to Praia de Carnota and Monte Pindo, two clearly identified destinations visible across the landscape surrounding the viewpoint.
The Mirador de Lira has a stone safety railing and a telescope; nearby there is a rest area with stone tables and benches, as well as an area designed by the sculptor Xosé Cernadas featuring replicas of local petroglyphs.
The viewpoint therefore combines views of Praia de Carnota and Monte Pindo with amenities including a safety railing, telescope, rest area and stone tables. The replicas of local petroglyphs are also part of the landscaped area nearby.
The Mirador de Lira is signposted from the AC-550 road and can be reached via a two-lane side road that becomes narrower in some places.
The rocky coast connecting Lariño and Lira is described as Galicia’s first marine reserve.
The coastal connection between Lariño and Lira complements the viewpoint with a specifically named section of rocky coast. The designation as Galicia’s first marine reserve remains tied to this connection.
Paths and Fishing
The Ruta dos Mariñeiros is a restored fishermen’s path that fishermen used to reach the sea from Lira to go fishing.
Along the Ruta dos Mariñeiros, visitors can observe traditional fishing equipment and the work of the women who mend nets.
The visible components of this path therefore include both fishing equipment and the skilled work of the women who mend nets.
The open-air Museo Aberto can be explored on foot or by bicycle at any time of day.
Both of these means of transport are therefore possible for exploring the open-air museum, while the reference to the time of day does not limit visits to a specific period.

Maritime Life
The fish market in Portocubelo, Lira, is associated with the sale of spider crabs and octopus.
These sea creatures are therefore part of the documented sales associated with the Portocubelo fish market. Together with the fishermen’s hut, the boat and the fishermen’s path, the maritime context remains limited to specific places, objects and activities.
