Trails and Routes

The Casas del Monte–Hervás section of the Vía de la Plata nature trail begins at the municipal boundary between Jarilla and Casas del Monte. Access is via a paved rural road near kilometre 447 of the N-630; after 100 m, an unpaved track branches off to the right towards the nature trail, whose starting point lies 300 m farther south. After the former railway station that once served Casas del Monte, the nature trail crosses the bridge over the Garganta Ancha; 200 m farther on, a broad rural road leads uphill to Casas del Monte.

The SL-CC 96 El Moralejo circular hiking trail is 5.7 km long, easy and takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. It starts at the entrance to Casas del Monte in the Vuelta del Liriazo area. The different route lengths, the stated difficulty and the separate activity types make it easier to compare the available trails.

Cycling Route and Swimming Area

The Ruta MTB 1 Bosques del Ambroz passes through Casas del Monte. It is a 40.12 km, moderately difficult circular route for mountain bikes and runs through the forests of the Ambroz Valley.

Local History and Church

Casas del Monte was founded approximately in the second half of the 15th century through the settlement of herders from La Garganta. The town has its own parish church, dedicated to the Holy Martyrs Fabián and Sebastián. The Church of the Holy Martyrs Fabián and Sebastián dates from the late 15th century.
