l’Ametlla de Mar is particularly impressive to discover along its coast. The GR-92 from l’Ametlla de Mar to l’Almadrava is a moderately difficult coastal path with views of the Mediterranean, hidden coves, pine trees and coastal cliffs.

Nature

The terrestrial and marine ecosystems of l’Ametlla de Mar are in good conservation condition and feature Posidonia oceanica seagrass meadows and high biological diversity. Among the most outstanding natural features of the terrestrial coast of l’Ametlla de Mar are coastal lagoons along the Rambla waterways.

The underwater route Ruta submarina passes through three seabed areas: rocky seabed, sandy seabed and Posidonia meadows. This provides different perspectives for observing nature, from the landscape on land to the habitats beneath the water’s surface.

Culture and History

In l’Ametlla de Mar, the Museo de Cerámica Popular is one of the sights you can visit.

The Sant Jordi d’Alfama military fort dates from the first half of the 18th century and was built to defend the coast against piracy. The medieval Sant Jordi d’Alfama castle is historically connected with the Order of San Jorge, founded in 1201.

The archaeological route runs through the area of Sant Jordi beach and its immediate surroundings and includes a section of the Via Augusta as well as the Rivellets bridge.

The Centro de Interpretación de la Pesca in l’Ametlla de Mar houses a versatile exhibition space for activities relating to maritime fishing and seafaring culture.

The historical route of l’Ametlla de Mar comprises nine stops covering topics such as the town’s foundation by fishermen from the Grau de Valencia, religious traditions, 18th-century bandit legends and shipwrecks off the coast during the First World War. This route can be followed independently or with a tour guide.

Water and Season

The Tuna Tour combines information about bluefin tuna, fishing, nutrition, research, biology and the gastronomic value of bluefin tuna with the experience of swimming among hundreds of bluefin tuna.

Depending on the season and departure schedule, the Tuna Tour runs from Easter until the end of October. The content and the period are two separate points of reference for personal daily planning.

Cuisine

Fideudada is one of the maritime dishes of l’Ametlla de Mar.

At the Diada dels Fideus Rossejats in the port of l’Ametlla de Mar, amateur cooks demonstrate various ways of preparing the traditional fishermen’s noodle dish, which is then served as a tasting portion.
