Discover Vilac: Romanesque architecture, views and trails
Vilac is located at an altitude of 1,047 metres. As a viewpoint, the village offers views over the central part of the Vall d’Aran. The mountains of the port de Vielha are also within the field of vision.
Landscape
The Pla de Vilàs viewpoint can be reached from Vilac via the Piste de Salient after approximately four kilometres. The Piste de Salient continues from Vilac to the Tuc de Sanela; from there, it offers an impressive view over almost the entire Vall d’Aran.
The Jardí-mirador de Vilac is located in the former arms courtyard of Vilac Castle. From this Jardí-mirador de Vilac, the view extends far across a large part of the valley.
Trails
The “Paseo de contrastes por Vielha” walking route leads from Vielha via Vilac and Pònt de Beussa to Gausac. The walking route then leads back to Vielha.

Culture
Sant Fèlix de Vilac is part of the Ruta Románica de Arán. Sant Fèlix de Vilac contains a Romanesque baptismal font. The interior of Sant Fèlix de Vilac also contains a Gothic altarpiece.
Vilac preserves old houses with lintels dating from 1700. These houses feature imposing balconies and wooden coffered ceilings.
The church and the historic houses therefore represent different visible testimonies in the village. During the summer months, guided tours of the church of Sant Fèlix de Vilac are planned; specific visiting dates and times should be checked before visiting.
Annual cycle
Vilac celebrates its Festa Major on 1 August, the feast day of Saint Felix. On the third Sunday in June, Vilac takes part in the Mair de Diu de l’Artiga de Lin pilgrimage. Aubèrt and Betlan take part in this pilgrimage together with Vilac.
The two events with fixed dates mark different points in Vilac’s annual cycle. For the pilgrimage, the joint participation of Aubèrt and Betlan is mentioned in addition to the date. The summer months, on the other hand, refer to the planned church tours, whose exact times must be checked separately.
