Puigverd d'Agramunt: Cultural Heritage, Ruta del Sió and Riverbanks

El castell in Puigverd d'Agramunt has been documented since 1061. In 1985, El castell was designated a Bé Cultural d'Interès Nacional (BCIN), or Cultural Asset of National Interest. The building stands in the upper part of Puigverd d'Agramunt next to the church.

Culture

l'Església parroquial de Sant Pere is a large neoclassical building, constructed around the 18th century over an older Romanesque church. A rose window illuminates the interior, while the façade features curved lines.

l'Ermita de Sant Miquel is an early Romanesque, single-nave chapel; its construction is dated approximately to the 11th or 12th century.

The Molí del Senyor, also known as the Molí del Siscà, is located near the Sió River. It is designated as a Bé Cultural d'Interès Local, or Cultural Asset of Local Interest.

The townscape therefore brings together different architectural forms and periods: El castell has been documented since the Middle Ages, the parish church retains its connection to an older Romanesque predecessor, and the chapel is attributed to the Early Romanesque period. The Molí del Senyor, also known as the Molí del Siscà, completes this sequence with a designated cultural asset on the Sió River.

Archaeology

At La vil·la romana dels reguers, remains of polychrome mosaics dating from the 4th century were discovered in 1961 during agricultural work. The find comprises three polychrome mosaics in different rooms, decorated with geometric, floral and figurative animal motifs.

The site links the documented date of discovery with a significantly older Roman dating. The three mosaics came from different rooms and show the variety of the surviving decorations: geometric patterns, floral elements and figurative animal motifs appear side by side.

Festivals and Routes

The Festa Major gran, also known as the Festa Major de Sant Mateu, is a traditional festival in Puigverd d'Agramunt. It is celebrated on 3 September.

The TRAM 5 section of the Ruta del Sió runs from Agramunt to Puigverd d'Agramunt and ends at Parc del Riu Sió. Along Carrer Abadia to Plaça Mestre Navall, TRAM 5 identifies the old town of Puigverd d'Agramunt as an interesting point on the route.
