Llés – Mountain Views, Trails and Chapels

The summit of Tossa Plana de Lles stands at 2,916 m; from there, the view stretches across Cerdanya, Andorra and the Pyrenees in the west, reaching beyond Maladeta, specifically as far as Pic Mièidia de Bigorra. To the south, Cadí and Baridà can be seen, while Canigó lies to the east. Tossa Plana de Lles, also known as Pic de la Portelleta, is the second-highest peak in Cerdanya.

Mountains and Water

Estanys de la Pera are two lakes in a small glacial cirque at the upper end of the Arànser valley, which belongs to the Riu del Molí catchment area. In summer, marked hiking trails lead out from Refugi Cap del Rec, including variant 10 of the GR-11. The Trinxat stage mountain-bike tour also passes through Refugi Cap del Rec.

The Muntanya de Lles cycling route runs from Martinet via paved minor roads and wide forest tracks into the high mountain areas of Lles de Cerdanya. A route through the Vall de la Llosa follows a historic crossing into Andorra, once used by smugglers, shepherds, bandits and farmers.

Trails, Cycling and Winter

Cap del Rec is a cross-country skiing facility in Lles de Cerdanya. Refugi Cap del Rec is located directly beside the trails of the LLES station; it has a large car park as well as a bar, restaurant and accommodation. The Aransa cross-country skiing facility is located near the village of Arànser in the municipality of Lles de Cerdanya, while the mountain refuge is situated in the El Fornell area.

In Aransa, excursions, electric-bike rentals and horse-riding routes are available in summer. The La Llosa River, which flows through the municipality of Lles de Cerdanya, is considered a fishing ground. The Muntanya de Lles route cannot be completed on foot or by vehicle in winter because the forest track between the Aransa and Lles cross-country skiing stations is closed. The access track to Prat Miró and Les Pollineres is closed to motor vehicles all year round.

Culture and Architecture

Sant Fructuós de Músser has an 11th-century apse with blind arches made of tuff. The Capella del Roser o del Benefici de Lles is a small Baroque chapel with a square floor plan and a polygonal apse. Inside this chapel is a Greek cross carved from limestone, featuring a bas-relief of Christ enthroned. Sant Sebastià de Viliella preserves a Romanesque baptismal font carved from a single block of granite.
