The Festa Major takes place in Belianes in July. This date is part of the local annual calendar, alongside other firmly established events that mark different times of the year in Belianes.

Culture

The Ajuntament de Belianes was declared a Bé Cultural d'Interès Nacional in 1979. As a building, it is a Gothic town house with Renaissance influences from the 16th and 18th centuries. The designation and the architectural classification therefore refer to the same building, whose history has been shaped by both of these periods.

Cal Roc is a Catalan Renaissance-style manor house. The building dates from the 16th century. The present-day Església de Sant Jaume was begun in 1563 and is a Late Gothic building. Belianes therefore has both a manor house and a church, each with its own architectural form and dating, without conflating their historical details.

Olive Oil and Agriculture

The Molí d'oli Maurici Massot is a restored olive mill dating from the 17th century. Its original machinery has been preserved. This machinery was used to grind olives and also to press them. The mill therefore preserves not only its historical function as a building, but also the two traditional working stages that remain evident in the surviving equipment.

The Ecomuseu houses a collection of tools and equipment from rural life. The collection also includes clothing and documents of great historical and cultural interest. In addition to equipment, the collection thus contains personal and written records documenting different aspects of everyday rural life in Belianes.

A guided tour focuses on the history of olive oil and agriculture in Belianes. It combines a visit to the Molí d’oli Maurici Massot with the Ecomuseu. Anyone wishing to plan this tour should take into account that an appointment must be arranged in advance.

Events

In Belianes, it is traditional to celebrate the Festa de l'Oli on the first Sunday in December. This Sunday is the specified date for the festival centred on the olive oil tradition. The event preserves its connection with local agriculture and olive processing in both its name and its established date.

The Patge reial event includes a visit from the royal page. It takes place on the Sunday before New Year's Day. The date therefore falls immediately before the change of year, while the visit from the royal page forms the specific content of the event.

Nature

The Secans de Belianes-Preixana natural area extends partly across Belianes. It is designated as a ZEPA. ZEPA stands for Special Protection Area for birds. The protected natural area therefore does not cover the entire town, but only part of the municipality of Belianes.
