Discover Agramunt: Art, Turrón and Places of Remembrance

Agramunt is home to the church of Santa Maria. It has three naves with pointed barrel vaults.

Culture

Espai Guinovart is a centre for contemporary art. Works by Josep Guinovart are permanently exhibited there. In addition to visiting its collection, Espai Guinovart offers theatre, workshops and conferences.

Lo Pardal was expanded into the “Casa de la Poesia Visual”. It displays visual poems, poetic objects and volumetric works. The design of Lo Pardal invites visitors to explore visual poetry through a sensorially guided contemplation of the works.

Sacred architecture, contemporary art and visual poetry therefore stand side by side in Agramunt, each with its own visual language. The collection of Josep Guinovart remains permanently on display, while Lo Pardal makes the exhibited works tangible through their spatial and object-based design.

Nature and Cycling

At the entrance to Agramunt lies Parc de Riella, in the natural riverbed of the Sió. The park has a figure-eight-shaped circular trail. This trail includes ten compositions from Viladot’s poetic work.

The Via Verda de la Vall del Sió has a 600-metre-long cycling tourism section. This section connects the urban area of Agramunt with the existing route.

Parc de Riella combines the natural course of the Sió with a defined artistic route: the figure-eight shape of the trail and the ten compositions give the visit a clearly recognisable sequence. Turrón and Chocolate

The Museu del Torró i la Xocolata includes audiovisual presentations. Historical equipment and machines are also part of the museum. A reconstruction shows the turrón workshop used by the Vicens family in 1933.

The Fira del Torró i la Xocolata a la Pedra was established in 1988 in connection with a turrón market. It developed into a meeting place for the confectionery world and for high-quality agricultural and food products.

The history of confectionery thus ranges from a museum tour with audiovisual presentations and historical machines to the reconstruction of a specifically dated workshop. Since its development in 1988, the fair has continued this connection between product history and the regional food world in the public sphere.

Remembrance

The Ruta dels Espais de Memòria d’Agramunt includes the airfield shelter at Els Salats, the Pou del Gel shelter, the air-raid shelter of Santa Maria church and Era de Cal Petitó.
