Vall de Bianya lies partly within the Parc Natural de la Zona Volcànica de la Garrotxa.
The Parc Natural de la Zona Volcànica de la Garrotxa covers 174.2 hectares in Vall de Bianya.
The landscape of Vall de Bianya combines meadows, forests and streams in small and large valleys.
The Sant Miquel del Mont route is a circular hiking trail that begins in Hostalnou de Bianya.
It offers panoramic views of the Bas and Bianya valleys.
The route passes through the La Torre de Sant Pere oak forest.
La Torre de Sant Pere is one of the few English oak forests in La Garrotxa.
The forest is characterised by particularly large trees.
The route leads to Castell del Coll, a fortified medieval house dating from the 11th century.
Culture and history
The Vía Romana del Capsacosta is considered to be a road of Roman origin.
It is also considered a secondary branch of the Via Augusta.
The Vía Romana del Capsacosta is designated as a Bien Cultural de Interés Nacional.
The only very well-preserved section runs for 8 kilometres between Sant Pau Vell, within the municipality of Sant Pau de Segúries in Ripollès, and Pas dels Traginers in Vall de Bianya in La Garrotxa.
The Torre de Sant Pere was built by Guillem Corona in the 15th century.
Despite later additions, it retains the appearance of a fortified house.
Sant Salvador de Bianya was consecrated in 1170.
Sant Andreu de Porreres was the parish church of Vall del Bac.
The first documentary mention dates from 946.
Santa Margarida de Bianya is a single-nave Romanesque church with a semicircular apse.
Routes and local points of interest
The Vall de Bianya Green Route connects Llocalou and Hostalnou de Bianya on foot or by bicycle.
It passes through cultivated land and pasture.
The Vall de Bianya Green Route is accessible with assistance or suitable for handcycle users.
Route 3 Vall dels Sentits follows the course of the Riera de Santa Lucía from Sant Pere Despuig to the La Rovira bridge.
Another route begins in La Canya and passes through the valleys of Bianya, Sant Ponç and Vall del Bac.
The Centre d'Interpretació del Paisatge de la Vall de Bianya is located in Sant Salvador de Bianya.
It is the municipality's reception and information centre.
