Sant Pere Despuig combines landscape with trails that alternate between nature and cultural experiences. This gives you a destination where a trip to the church, a hike along a watercourse, views of cultivated fields and a summer stay at a swimming spot make different daily itineraries possible.

Church on the Cademunt Hill

The church of Sant Pere Despuig was consecrated in 964. It stands on a hill in the small Cademunt mountain formation, in the middle of the Bianya plain. The church can be reached from the C-153 via the road to Sant Martí de Solamal; the turnoff onto the road leading up to the hill is easy to find.

Watercourse, Bridge and Swimming Spot

The signposted Ruta 3 Vall dels sentits begins at the church of Sant Pere Despuig, where parking is easy. It follows the course of the Riera de Santa Llúcia to the Pont de la Rovira, reaching it after crossing small streams. The Gorga de Planagem, a swimming spot that can be used in summer, is also located along the route from Sant Pere Despuig. This makes the trail a sequence of stream crossings, a bridge and a water spot that can be planned as a clear focus for an active outing.

Trails through the Vall de Capsec

The Route de les pairalies i cultius offers a different perspective on the landscape. It begins in Sant Pere Despuig and leads to Les Planes de Capsec. Along paths, it enters the fertile Vall de Capsec, which is surrounded by scattered farmhouses and cultivated areas.

Torre de Sant Pere among the Fields

The Torre de Sant Pere is located in the Sant Pere del Puig area, among cultivated fields. Despite later additions, it retains the appearance of a fortified house. The Torre de Sant Pere was built by Guillen de Corana at the end of the 15th century; this may have happened after the attacks by the Remences. The building therefore combines a clearly recognisable historical character with the rural surroundings, where fields define the landscape.

Which Holiday Apartment Suits Your Travel Plans

When choosing a holiday apartment in Sant Pere Despuig, you can align the focus of your stay with the church, the tower and the two routes: the church and the start of Ruta 3 mark the starting point for a trail with the Riera, small streams, the Pont de la Rovira and a summer swimming spot. The Route de les pairalies i cultius, on the other hand, leads into the Vall de Capsec with its farmhouses and cultivated areas. Anyone looking for an additional cultural and historical focus can include the church and the Torre de Sant Pere in their daily itinerary. This allows active trails, open agricultural landscapes and historic buildings around Sant Pere Despuig to be prioritised according to personal interests.

Getting Your Bearings around Sant Pere Despuig

The road layout around the Torre de Sant Pere is also important for finding your way around the area: one road runs close to the Torre de Sant Pere, branches off from the C-26 near Hostalnou and rejoins it after Sant Martí de Solamal. The C-153 leads to the church via the road to Sant Martí de Solamal.
