The Cingles de Vallcebre form a natural limestone wall enclosing the valley. The Mirador del Telefèric offers a general view of the valley. The Mirador de Cap Deig provides a close-up view of the Cingles de Vallcebre and the surrounding forest and agricultural landscape.
Nature
At Espai Actiu Vallcebre, three via ferratas form a municipal, regulated facility. Canyoning in the Torrent del Forat Negre is also available there as a municipally regulated activity. Escola d'Escalada l'Empalomar is a climbing area particularly suitable for beginners, with regulated access. Specialised guides and rental equipment can be booked there in advance.
Activities
Camins de Vallcebre provides georeferenced information on the main routes in the municipality. These include Els Cingles de Vallcebre, the Volta a Coll de Pradell, the Ruta Minera a Coll de Pradell, the Volta al Grauet, the Volta a la Llacuna and the Camí Aeri de l'Artic.
The circular route “Pels cingles de Vallcebre” passes over several historic “graus”. For centuries, these steep access paths were the only way to reach or leave Vallcebre. The partially restored mines of Coll de Pradell have been made accessible via a hiking route lasting just over an hour. The Trenet Miner de Coll de Pradell includes a rehabilitated former railway track section leading to an old mine.
Geology
Espai Geologia Vallcebre is an open-air geological exhibition in the centre of Vallcebre. Passeig pel Temps is an 80-metre-long footpath illustrating the last 520 million years of Earth's history. The Centre de Geologia de Vallcebre is located in Parc dels Roures and also includes an open-air geological exhibition. This site features a walk through time presenting the development of life and the rock formations of the nature park over the past 530 million years.
A geological trail starts in Vallcebre towards Coll de Pradell and Fumanya and includes several stops. The Fumanya fossil site area extends across the municipalities of Vallcebre and Fígols. The sites include more than 3,500 dinosaur footprints as well as significant fossil remains, including dinosaur eggs and plant and animal remains.
Culture
The Aplec de Santa Magdalena is an annual pilgrimage on foot to a hermitage. A short mass and a communal breakfast follow there. The Mercat d'Artesans de Vallcebre has taken place on the Sunday closest to 12 October since 2006. The market features stalls by local, regional and national artisans, as well as activities and workshops on traditional crafts.
