Sant Sadurní d'Anoia – Cava, Trails and Culture

The landscape of Sant Sadurní d'Anoia is predominantly shaped by winegrowing. It includes vineyards as well as pine, oak and olive groves with broom and rosemary.

Gastronomy

The Cava Centre offers an audiovisual, participatory and playful journey through the origins and history of Cava. This journey also includes the riddles and secrets of Cava. Getting around

The Camins per la capital del cava comprise seven routes. These include three accessible circular routes adapted for people with mobility difficulties. The network also includes the Camí del Riu.

The Camins are suitable for walking, hiking, cycling, Nordic walking and handcycling. Route 7, “Tomb per la Vila”, is an easy circular walk of approximately 3.5 kilometres through Sant Sadurní d'Anoia. The walk includes points of interest and a section along the edge of the town by the Riera Lavernó.

The Camí del Riu is 43 kilometres long. It runs along the Mediona-Bitlles, Anoia and Lavernó rivers through the varied river landscapes of Alt Penedès. The Freixenet winery in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia is easily accessible by motorway and by train.

Culture and history

The pre-Romanesque hermitage of Sant Benet d'Espiells is located in the Espiells district. It is dated to the 10th or 11th century.

At Plaça Santiago Rusiñol, the premsa de biga has been preserved as a monument; it dates from approximately the 17th century. A self-guided route showcases Modernisme in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia.

The Festa de la Fil·loxera commemorates how the inhabitants of Sant Sadurní d'Anoia defeated the phylloxera epidemic at the end of the 19th century, which had devastated the municipality's vineyards. The Festa de la Fil·loxera takes place on 7 and 8 September. It was designed as street theatre with music, dances and fire.

Nature

Lake Can Codorníu is a natural area. Its circumference is approximately two kilometres. The natural area offers opportunities for walking all year round.
