Sant Just Desvern: Nature, Culture and Trails
Nature
Part of Sant Just Desvern lies within the boundaries of the protected Parc Natural de la Serra de Collserola. The nature trails in the Collserola area that cross Sant Just Desvern can be reached from the town within a few minutes on foot. La Penya del Moro is a 276-metre-high hill whose summit offers views over the Llobregat Delta and the Garraf mountain ranges.
Other destinations include Navàs, Masquefa, Borredá, Castellterçol, Castellbisbal, Collsuspina, Gavà and Centelles.
Hiking trails
The PR 164 is a 12.5-kilometre circular hiking trail of low difficulty that begins and ends at the Rambla de Sant Just in Sant Just Desvern. The Ruta Masías passes examples of rural architectural heritage and includes Can Gelabert de la Riera, Can Roldan, Can Padrosa, Can Vilar de la Montaña and Can Carbonell.
The trails also differ in their form: the PR 164 returns to its starting point, while the Ruta Masías connects several named sites of rural heritage.
Culture
The compact old town of Sant Just Desvern can be explored on foot, with short distances between the sights. Can Ginestar is a Modernist farmhouse in a beautiful garden on a property surrounded by a wall with Gaudí-inspired design. The parish church of Sant Just Desvern was built in the 16th century. The Walden 7 building was designed by Ricardo Bofill and Levi between 1973 and 1975 and has fifteen storeys.
The townscape brings together different scales: the 16th-century parish church, the Modernist Can Ginestar and Walden 7 with its fifteen storeys.
A visit to the air-raid shelter of Sant Just Desvern includes descending inside the shelter, explanations of seven murals and five sculptures, and a 360-degree presentation of the experience featuring five figures, which can be accessed on a smartphone via QR code.
At the shelter, the descent, the explanations of the murals and sculptures, and the 360-degree presentation available via QR code form part of the same experience.
Events
The Festes de Tardor is a traditional festival in Sant Just Desvern held on the fourth weekend of October. The Cursa de Karts de coixinets takes place in Sant Just Desvern on the second weekend of November.
