Férez: Church, Hiking Route and Cenajo Reservoir
The Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción leads directly into the history of Férez: its origins lie in a former Arab mosque.
Culture
In the historic center of Férez, the vernacular architecture of the former settlement has been preserved. The Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción also preserves a valuable Gothic choir screen. Its furnishings include a historic organ from the 18th century, built by José Llopis. Thus, traces of the former settlement, a Gothic furnishing detail, and a specific historic instrument come together in the town center. The church combines its former history of use with surviving elements from different periods.
Hiking
The Férez–Letur route begins at Plaza del Pilar in Férez and crosses the Arroyo de la Mora via a bridge. It runs through fields where almond and olive trees predominantly grow. The route is 10.5 km long; the estimated walking time is 2 hours and 40 minutes. The distance and time estimate help classify the hike according to its scope and the available time frame. The starting point in the town, the bridge over the Arroyo de la Mora, and the transition into fields characterized by almond and olive trees give the route a clearly recognizable sequence. This allows the starting point, route progression, and the two details concerning length and duration to be considered together.
Nature and Water
The Bosque El Calar forest consists of Aleppo pines and holm oaks. It absorbs water that later emerges in the form of springs such as the Fuente del Cerezo and the Noguericas. The tree species and springs mentioned belong to the same landscape described here: water is absorbed in the forest and emerges elsewhere as a spring.
A large part of the Cenajo Reservoir belongs to Férez. You can fish in the Cenajo Reservoir, located a few kilometers from Férez; among others, trout, barbel, and carp are found there. The reservoir therefore appears both as a geographical component of Férez and as a place where the fish species trout, barbel, and carp occur.
When the water level of the Cenajo Reservoir falls, the Roman bridge at Alcantarilla de Jover is occasionally visible. When the reservoir was created in the 1960s, the hamlet of Alcantarilla de Jover, which belonged to Férez, was flooded. The visibility of the bridge is therefore linked to the falling water level, while the flooding of the hamlet is connected with the creation of the reservoir in the 1960s.
The La Alcantarilla de Jover area is an attractive place for swimming and water sports. From the Mirador de Híjar, a meander of the Río Segura can be seen in the landscape, shortly before the river reaches the Cenajo Reservoir. Here, an area for swimming and water sports, a viewpoint, the course of the Río Segura, and the subsequent reservoir form a common landscape context.
Arco de la Mora is a place of great scenic and ecological importance; its vegetation is irrigated by water diverted from its own mill. Here too, the watercourse is a defining detail: the vegetation is irrigated with water from the mill.

Cuisine
At Bodegas Lazo, the guided winery tour includes a wine tasting and the tasting of regional products. The visit thus combines a tour of the winery with two clearly named components: wine and regional products.
