History and Culture

A Cantabrian hillfort once stood on the summit of Cueto Moroso. In the area of the hillfort, there is a large collapse in the fortification wall; in places, the wall is still preserved at its original standing height. There is also a paved zigzag path and possible stone mounds.

From Cueto Moroso, views extend westwards over the Valle de Cieza, with the Sierras del Cordel, Peña Sagra and the Picos de Europa in the background. To the south, the view reaches the Valle de Iguña; the summit of Ureño lies in its centre, with Jano to the right.

The Bustamante family house is a 17th-century Cantabrian mountain house. The palace has a simple, unadorned façade with window openings and a double arcade on the lower floor, and today serves as a hotel.
