Trails and Route Context

The Ruta Lebaniega follows a footpath along the banks of the Nansa to the bridge at Camijanes (Herrerías), then continues to Cabanzón via a minor road. Heading south, the route leaves Cabanzón, reaches the CA-855 road and continues towards Cades. Culture and Architectural History

The Torre de Cabanzón was classified as a Bien de Interés Cultural in 1992. Its outer enclosure is square, fitted with battlements and approximately 3 metres high. In the Valle quarter of Cabanzón, the parish church can be dated to the beginning of the 18th century. On the outskirts of the village, the Ermita de la Magdalena preserves corbels on its apse, suggesting a medieval origin. The Ermita de San Francisco preserves an inscription from 1664. In the preserved apse of the Ermita de San Pedro is the keystone of a simple ribbed vault, decorated with angels' heads; the hermitage is attributed to the early Gothic style. The tree is more than 10 metres high and has a circumference of 4 metres at its base. In the El Cau quarter, five natural pools line up in a limestone outcrop.
