El Majuelo: Cultural Heritage and Trails in Gran Canaria

During the Fiestas Lustrales of Tejeda, Santa Rita from the El Majuelo district joins the pilgrimage on the GC-60. The procession of Santa Rita from El Majuelo continues along the GC-60 to the Cruz Blanca meeting point. At the traditional Three Kings parade in Tejeda, El Majuelo was scheduled as a district stop on 5 January 2023.

Trails and Landscape

A hiking route between Cruz de Tejeda and Tejeda passes the access points to the small districts of Las Crucitas, Erilla and Majuelo. Along this hiking route, almond trees provide seasonal splashes of colour in the landscape in January, February and March. A circular hike between Tejeda and Cruz de Tejeda passes through El Majuelo. The SL-1 hiking trail is signposted from La Degollada towards El Majuelo and Cruz de Tejeda.

The Circular Cruz de Tejeda por La Isa y El Rincón route includes the Barranquillo del Majuelo section. On the circular hike, one section runs along an old filled-in irrigation channel containing a polyethylene pipe. Events

The municipal Tejeda Copa Trail competition includes the Cronotrail Almendro en Flor, which takes place at the end of January or the beginning of February. The 2024 Cronotrail Almendro en Flor ran from La Vaguada via La Degollada, El Majuelo, Las Crucitas and El Rincón. The 2025 Cronotrail Tejeda–Almendro en Flor started in La Vaguada and headed northwest via La Degollada, El Majuelo and Las Crucitas.
